Introducing Ourselves

Welcome to the first issue of Casto Connections, a newsletter created to help researchers of Casto ancestry exchange ideas, theories, and information in order to trace their Casto family genealogy.  We are hoping to act more as a "clearinghouse" for Casto information than as a "source", although we will try to provide the sources for the information we print.

The idea for this newsletter came from the discovery of an earlier Casto newsletter, devoted to the same idea, but the newsletter folded when there weren't enough subscriptions to cover the cost of the publication.  We sincerely hope that won't be the case this time!  (And are, in fact, committed to at least one year of publication.)  From time to time, we may be quoting items that appeared in the earlier newsletter, but will be sure to mention when we are doing that.

And who exactly are we?  Not Casto experts, by any means!  Just two fellow researchers who are very involved in doing Casto research and would like to exchange and share whatever they discover.

Danita Smith, originally from Ohio but now a resident of "The Scenic City", Chattanooga, TN, is a happily married housewife, mother of Bonnie (age 6) and Alex (age 3), and volunteers for whatever she can't get out of!  She is related to the Castos through her late mother, Ellen Lou Casto Young, and has been working on her Casto research for about five years.

Drusilla Falk has been doing genealogy for about 14+ years and has had a measure of success on some of her lines, including the Castos.  She is a housewife and mother of two married children and the grandmother of four exceptionally cute, talented and intelligent grandchildren.  She likes to sew and do crafting, read, spend time with her family and of course, do genealogy!  For the past 14 years she has been the co-director of the Fort Worth Family History Center and has had the opportunity to speak at both the local genealogy society and the local junior college about using the Family History Center and doing research.  She is always happy to share what information she has with other researchers and is very excited about the new newsletter and the prospect of being able to contribute to the untangling of our Casto lines.

We hope that you will find our newsletter both informative and enjoyable and that you, our readers, will feel free to send in your comments, suggestions, and any of your own research that you will like to share with others working on the same lines as yourself.  Your input would be greatly appreciated!
